Lynch Syrah
Napa Valley
Created by
Heidi Peterson Barrett
This is the second vintage of Syrah from our Lynch
Knoll vineyard located in the western hills of Napa Valley on lower Spring
Mountain near historic Stony Hill. Subtle, elegant and restrained upon
initial opening; this Rhone-like wine opens up to reveal lovely blackberry,
plum and cassis fruit characteristics. This complex Syrah is multi-textured
with spicy notes of roasted pepper, cassis and coffee. French in style,
soft and supple on the palate, the finish is long and lingering. Serve
with a variety of dishes from lamb to beef, also delicious when accompanying
a simple nicoise salad or just a bowl of olives and peppers.

Brilliant ruby red-violet hue. Cranberry, blackberry, maple syrup (American
oak?) and purple iris aromas. Medium-full to full-bodied with very
good concentration. Ripe and aromatic, this has big fruit and an earthy
finish with ample oak, youthful tannins and lively acidity..(Beverage

Lynch Winery in Oakville, CA has turned out two tremendous
reds. Even given their high prices, these two wines are about as dead
on the money to their roots. The Syrah is totally Northern Rhone in both
bouquet and flavor, and melds perfectly with Carl Schroeder¹s Arterra Pork Three
Ways. The Cabernet, which rivals that of David Arthur, another Napa Valley
small lot producer, is charming now, but will easily age 10-15 years
or more. For serious wine collectors the wines from Dan Lynch are worthy
of the cellar. Look for them, or ask Jeff or Eli for them, at Baron¹s
